A group of us will be staying at the Doubletree Hilton on Saturday night\, with supper at a venue to be confirmed\, possibly Ambiente Tapas. DESCRIPTION:Note that date is yet to be confirmed\, although likely to be early August\, as last year \nJim and Theresa will be our hosts at this well-established event\, the Northernmost on the social calendar for the past couple of years (but if any of our Scottish members are interested in hosting an event north of the border\, we’d love to hear from you!) \nBased again at the Station Hotel in the city\, we will be heading out to one of Carlisle’s many excellent eateries – likely the “Sage & Vine” – on the Friday night for those making a weekend of it. \nSaturday night we meet in the bar\, with a hot buffet arranged next door. There was a good turnout last year – a really enjoyable event\, amply rewarding the trip up the M6.

SUMMARY:Cervin factory tour
DESCRIPTION:Alan and Sue have arranged a tour of the Cervin factory on the afternoon of Monday\, 7th September. \nCervin is one of the very few places left in the world still producing genuine fully fashioned and RHT stockings on the original Reading machines. The company is renowned for the exceptional quality of its hosiery – not to mention its fabulous packaging. \nThe Trip \nAs it’s rather a long way for a day trip\, those already signed up are planning to stay in the area between 4th and 11th September. \n\nOne group will be flying into Montpellier on Friday 4th\nOthers are driving down earlier and making a two-week holiday of it\n\nMost of us will be staying in a small village just east of Servas in the Languedoc-Roussillon region – around 100 km north of Montpellier and 60 km north-east of the Cervin factory in Sumène. \nWhat to Expect \nThe visit promises to be a fascinating look behind the scenes at one of the last traditional hosiery manufacturers still operating historic machinery.
